No-code automation

Integrate WhatsApp with Zapier

Zapier is an automation platform that connects more than 6,000 apps without requiring programming. You create flows called Zaps, where a trigger in one app fires an action in another. It is the ideal tool for those who want to automate day-to-day tasks by dragging blocks, without writing code. Since unofficial WhatsApp has no native app in Zapier, the bridge is made with the Webhooks by Zapier module, which sends and receives data through HTTP requests to ZapZap API.

Why connect

Picture an aesthetics clinic that captures leads through a Typeform form or a Google Sheets spreadsheet. Every time a new lead arrives, you want them to get a welcome message on WhatsApp right away, with nobody typing anything. By connecting Zapier to ZapZap API, the Zap listens to the form as the Trigger and, in the action step, sends a POST to the API that delivers the message from your number. On the other side, you can also receive customers' replies in Zapier through ZapZap's webhook and forward them to your CRM, email or Slack. Since ZapZap instances go through community warm-up, anti-ban and AI per instance, this lowers the risk of the number being restricted even with automatic sending volume. The cost is R$15 per active number per month, prepaid, and you start with a welcome credit when you create the account, subject to the current campaign, to test the flow before scaling.

Step by step

  1. 1

Create a Zap and set the trigger

In the Zapier dashboard, click Create and then Zaps. In the Trigger block, choose the app that starts the flow, for example Google Sheets, Typeform or Facebook Lead Ads, select the event (such as New Spreadsheet Row) and connect your account. Click Test trigger to pull a real sample record.

  2. 2

Add the Webhooks by Zapier action

Click the plus sign to create the action step. In the app search field, type Webhooks by Zapier and select it. Under Event, choose Custom Request and click Continue. This module lets you build the HTTP call to ZapZap API.

  3. 3

Configure the request to ZapZap API

Under Method, choose POST. In the URL field, paste ZapZap API's sending endpoint (base https://api.zapzapapi.com, check the exact route at https://api.zapzapapi.com/llms.txt). Under Data, build the JSON with the number and the text, using the insert-fields button to pull data from the trigger, such as the lead's phone. Under Headers, add x-api-key and x-api-secret with your credentials from the ZapZap dashboard.

  4. 4

Test the step and validate the sending

Click Test step. Zapier sends the request for real to ZapZap API. Check on your WhatsApp whether the message arrived and see the API response in the return tab. If there is an error, review the headers and the number format in the international standard, with the country code.

  5. 5

Publish the Zap and turn it on

With the test approved, click Publish to put the Zap live. From then on, each new record in the trigger fires automatic sending through WhatsApp. To receive customers' replies back in Zapier, use a Catch Hook Trigger from Webhooks by Zapier and point your ZapZap instance's per-event webhook to the generated URL.

POST https://api.zapzapapi.com/api/v1/{instanceId}/send/text
Headers:

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to code to connect WhatsApp to Zapier?

No. Zapier is visual and you build the flow by dragging blocks. The only slightly technical part is filling in the Webhooks by Zapier step with ZapZap API's URL and the x-api-key and x-api-secret headers, but you just copy and paste the credentials from your dashboard. The step by step above covers everything.

Does Zapier have an official ZapZap API app?

There is no native app, which is why the integration is done through the Webhooks by Zapier module, which works with any REST API. You use Custom Request to send messages and Catch Hook to receive events. The exact endpoints and fields are in the documentation at https://api.zapzapapi.com/llms.txt.

Can my number get banned when sending automatic messages?

Automation always involves risk when volume is high. ZapZap API instances have community warm-up, anti-ban and AI per instance, which lowers the risk of restriction. Still, keep messages relevant and respect anyone who asked not to receive them.

How much does it cost to use ZapZap API with Zapier?

The amount is R$15 per active number per month, on the prepaid model, and you start with a welcome credit when you create the account, subject to the current campaign. Zapier has a free plan and its own paid plans according to the number of tasks per month. The two costs are separate.

How do I receive customers' replies back in Zapier?

Create a Zap with the Catch Hook Trigger from Webhooks by Zapier, copy the webhook URL that Zapier generates and register that URL in your instance's per-event webhook in ZapZap API. That way, each message received on WhatsApp lands in Zapier and can go on to your CRM, email or spreadsheet.
